Creating communities. Changing lives.
BOYS HOPE GIRLS HOPE provides extraordinary children in need with opportunities to achieve their academic, emotional and spiritual potential.
The Northeastern Ohio affiliate currently utilizes a dual approach in our efforts to play a transformative role in the lives of middle and high-school aged young adults — a residential program which is the mainstay of all of the Boys Hope Girls Hope affiliates and an intensive outreach program unique to the Northeastern Ohio chapter.
Our time-tested residential program philosophy contends that the combination of a quality education, a safe and secure home, and a consistent routine will provide the young people we serve with the values and opportunities they need to realize and achieve their full potential.
Scholars enrolled in the program attend outstanding private middle- and high- schools whose missions embody the same holistic values that BHGH was founded upon. Scholars live in one of three homes at our Garfield Heights campus. Each home is staffed by qualified and dedicated Residential Counselors who have answered their vocation to live in community with promising young people.
Hope Prep, our non-residential outreach program, was launched in January 2007. Hope Prep is an intense three-year enrichment experience aimed at middle school students in grades 6-8. The goal of this program is to provide promising students from under-resourced schools with opportunities to develop the maturity, confidence and self-esteem necessary to thrive in rigorous academic settings.
Hope Prep scholars spend 6 weeks each summer studying and growing on the campus of John Carroll, a local Jesuit university. The summer experience is complemented by ongoing academic year engagement – including monthly visits, quarterly gatherings and a unique online learning community.
