On Friday, April 27th Hope Prep held its inaugural “Promotion Ceremony” for the scholars enrolled in the three-year middle school program. Over one hundred thirty scholars and their families were in attendance as lower scholars were promoted to the next level and the cohort of scholars currently enrolled in the 8th grade were promoted to Boys Hope Girls Hope’s high school program, “The College Road”. The evening, which included a fabulous spaghetti dinner prepared by Ms. Mary Jo Flynn, commenced with a welcome from Hope Prep Director, Ms. Kristin DeLong, and a prayer offered by Apprentice Teacher, Ms. Sadie Curtin. Each eighth grade scholar was awarded a certificate acknowledging their dedication to the intense three-year Hope Prep program.
“The College Road,” which was initiated in the fall of 2011, provides college guidance, enrichment and personal assistance to each scholar throughout their high school experience. Scholars that successfully complete the program will earn a scholarship to offset costs for first-year college expenses that are not covered by traditional financial aid awards such as books, dorm room supplies, etc.
